Unique apartments in the heart of Staunton.

Begun in 1916 and finished in 1921, Waverley, aka the Big House at Waverley Green, was renovated in 1929 by the renowned architect T.J. Collins. In 1972 the house was converted into to four luxury apartments. Since then, the house has been used primarily as a large, extended family residence. This is the first time in almost forty years the Waverly Green Apartments have been available to rent.

 

Enter the Big House through the Waverley's grand front door and step into its impressive foyer, a spectacular room featuring a 21-foot ceiling, a dramatic spiraling staircase to the second floor, and an exquisite baby grand piano. 

All of Waverley's apartments have exclusive access to individual outdoor spaces featuring eastern views of the Shenandoah Valley stretching to the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Each apartment has two bedrooms and two full baths, hardwood floors, crown moldings, high ceilings, central air, gas heat, dishwashers, oak kitchen cabinets, plenty of closet space, and parking spaces for 2 cars. All apartments have complimentary access to high-speed internet, shared washers and dryers in the basement, and generous secured storage space.

Waverley is on Staunton's Historic Registry and is within easy walking distance of the city's Historic Downtown District and all its amenities. It just a couple of blocks away from the campus of Mary Baldwin University.

The apartment's exclusive outdoor patio looks to the southeast toward the Blue Ridge Mountains and the valley below. The living room features built-in shelving & cabinets, and there are floor-to-ceiling bookcases in the smaller the bedroom that would also make it perfect for a den, office, or library. Plenty of closet space.

Apartment No. 2

Apartment No. 3
At six rooms, this apartment is Waverley Green's largest.

No. 3 features 2 bedrooms and 2 baths, plus a spacious family room on a second floor which can be used as an office or 3rd bedroom. Also on the second floor is an additional separate room, plus an unfinished room that can be used for storage or an atelier. From the light-filled living room you can step outside onto an incredible sun terrace spanning the entire width of the building.

Apartment 4 is Waverley's cozy spot and also has the best views: this upstairs unit has four rooms, including 2 bedrooms and 2 full baths. The light-filled living room has views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and both bedrooms look out on the lovely backyard with the rounded limestone wall. The second bedroom is beautifully paneled and features built-in shelves and cabinets, as well as access to the apartment's private sun terrace that looks out to the east across the valley and out to the Blue Ridge Mountains. The kitchen is small, but has a breakfast bar suitable for 2, pantry storage, and a built-in wine rack. The master bedroom and bath are spacious with generous closet space.
The apartment has internal access to complimentary storage and laundry in the basement.
